FAQs:

Q: What do I list on event registrations for Team Name/Affiliation?
A:
Please list Gen X / World Bicycle Relief exactly as shown here. Consistency is important.

Q: How old do I have to be to join the team?
A:
Are you breathing? Good enough.

Q: Do I have to buy a team uniform?
A:
Team kits are not required. They are encouraged, as it adds to the fun. Feel free to wear what you like for your events.

Q: Do I have to live in Wisconsin?
A:
NO! You can live anywhere.

Q: When are your team rides?
A:
Members live across a broad geographic area, so group gathering frequency varies. Members living in close proximity are encouraged to get together and organize training rides as fits their schedule. LBS & Club rides are also good formats for regular gatherings. Post your rides on our Flickr board (see the 'Share' page on this site). The more communication among the riders the greater the value for all!

Q: I don't race, can I be a member?
A:
Yes! without our family and friends, we would be unable to compete. Many of our members have training partners that do not wish to race, but do enjoy an active lifestyle.

Q: What events do most members participate in?
A: MTB racing is the core event format that Gen X was founded on. Trail running, Tri, Duathlon, Road, CX and related events are all participated in by our team members.

Q: How competitive is the team environment?
A:
Each member has their own goals and aspirations and their own competitive spirit. The team is a casual, friendly environment, with lots of shared stories and opportunities to learn. We likely will not be seen on the Olympic medal podium!

Q: What freebies do I get for joining?
A:
Short answer - None! There may be the odd time where we have a Shwag item for members, but with no monetary sponsors sought for 2008 and minimal team fees, there are no freebies at this time. But if you have connections or ideas, we are all ears!

Q: Who founded the team?
A:
Mike Olm and Justin Latham founded the team purely for fun in 2005. Many new friends on two wheels have been made ever since! While Mike & Justin typically coordinate the team organization, the development and growth of the team is dependent on what it is the members wish to do, with others welcome to contribute as they see fit.

Q: Does the team do any trail advocacy?
A:
To date the team has done a minimal amount of trail work. With the evolution of the Greenbush trails and many other great efforts in the Midwest, we would like to contribute more to sustainable trail development and hope that team members can contribute some of their time.
